This Privacy Policy explains what information Nuastro (“Nuastro,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can require us to do with it. Nuastro is owned and operated by Elene Beridze, based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
We have written this policy to describe what the service actually does, field by field. If you find anything here that does not match your experience of Nuastro, please tell us, because that would be a fault worth fixing.
It sits alongside our Terms and Conditions and our Refund Policy, which govern your account and your purchases.
1. The short version
- We collect your account details, your birth details, and what you choose to write on the site.
- Your birth details are the heart of the service. They are stored with your account and used to calculate your charts.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
- Your place of birth is resolved on your own device, using a location file we ship with the site. It is not sent to any mapping company.
- When a reading is written, the calculated chart is sent to our text provider, together with any questions you wrote for it. Your name, your email address and your birthplace are not.
- You can ask us to delete your account, and we will delete it. This is described exactly in Section 7.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account information. A username, an email address, and a password. The password is stored as a salted hash, not as text and not in a form we can reverse. Nobody at Nuastro can read your password, including us.
- Birth details. Your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth, together with the chart calculated from them. If you tell us you do not know your birth time, we record that fact too, because it changes how your chart is drawn.
- People you save. If you save another person to your register, for their own chart, a relationship chart, or a reading bought for them, we store the name you give them and the birth details you enter for them. Please read Section 4, which is about those people rather than about you.
- Questions for a reading. When you buy a reading in the Store, you can write what you want it to answer and whose chart it is for. That text is stored with the purchase, read by the person writing the reading, and sent to our text provider alongside the chart.
- Things you write. Posts, replies, comments, notes in the margin of articles, and your reactions to other people’s posts.
- Settings. Your light or night preference, how you like the wheel shown, whether you want the guided tours, which emails you receive, and similar choices. Your username can be changed from your profile, once every 30 days; we keep the previous one only long enough to stop it being taken over straight away.
- Messages to us. Whatever you choose to write when you contact us for support.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Pages visited, actions taken, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device type, and referring site. Collected through the analytics services named in Section 5.
- Server logs. Our host records standard web server logs, including IP addresses and request times, for security and operations. The country a request comes from, as our host reports it, is used to apply the regional restrictions we are required to apply, and is not stored by us.
- Invitations. If you arrive through another member’s invitation link, we record which member invited you, so that the free access they were promised can be given to them. We also store a one-way hash of the IP address your account was opened from. A hash is not an address and cannot be turned back into one: it lets us tell whether two accounts were opened from the same connection, which is how we stop the invitation offer being farmed with accounts nobody intends to use. It is never displayed, never shared, and used for nothing else. See Section 6 for why we are allowed to do this, and Section 10 for the cookie that carries an invitation between pages.
2.3 What we deliberately do not collect
- We do not collect or store card numbers, bank details, or billing addresses. Those go directly to our payment provider and never reach our servers. See Section 5.
- We do not ask for your legal name, your address, or your telephone number.
- We do not buy personal data about you from anyone else.
3. Your place of birth is resolved on your device
Many astrology sites send the place you type to an external mapping company in order to turn it into coordinates. Nuastro does not. We ship a gazetteer of around 170,000 places with the site itself, and the lookup, including the correct historical time zone for your birth year, happens in your own browser.
No mapping or geocoding company receives your birthplace, and none receives your IP address on our behalf. An earlier version of this policy said otherwise. It was wrong, and this section replaces it.
4. People you save who are not you
When you save another person in order to draw a relationship chart, you are giving us information about someone who has not agreed to anything with us. We treat that seriously.
- Their details are visible only to you. They are not published, not shown to other members, and not used to create an account for them.
- They are never used to advertise to that person, and we make no attempt to identify or contact them.
- You can remove a saved person at any time, which deletes their details.
- They are deleted along with everything else if you close your account.
- You are responsible for what you enter. Please only save people whose birth details you have a legitimate reason to hold, and be prepared to tell them if they ask.
If you believe someone has saved your details and you want them removed, contact us at elene@nuastro.com and we will act on it.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following providers, each for a stated purpose.
- Gumroad (Gumroad, Inc., United States) handles all payments. Gumroad is the merchant of record, which means Gumroad is the seller for your purchase and handles payment, tax and invoicing. Your card details are given to Gumroad, not to us. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, which plan or reading it was for, the email address you paid with, and an identifier that lets us match it to your account. Gumroad processes your information under its own privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Anthropic PBC) provides the text model used to write your readings, both the ones included in a subscription and the ones a person writes for you from the Store. We send the calculated chart, meaning planetary positions, houses and aspects, the questions you wrote for a reading, and our own written reference material. We do not send your name, your username, your email address, your date of birth, your time of birth, or your place of birth. A chart is derived from your birth details and so is still personal information, which is why we name this provider here.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) measure how the site is used. Clarity also records how pages are interacted with, such as scrolling and clicks, in order to show where the interface confuses people. Both are loaded only where permitted by your cookie choice, and both are served through our own domain so that they work consistently.
- WordPress.com (Automattic Inc.) hosts the site and stores its database.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of Nuastro, our members, or others.
- Business transfers. If Nuastro is ever sold or merged, member information may transfer as part of that transaction. You would be told before it took effect.
6. Why we are allowed to use it, and what for
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the law requires us to name a legal basis for each use. These are ours.
- To run your account and provide what you asked for: creating your account, calculating and storing your charts, writing your readings, taking payment, and providing the features of your plan. Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.
- To send service messages: verifying your address, resetting your password, confirming a payment, and telling you about changes that affect your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the service secure: detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, spam and unauthorised access, keeping server logs, and telling whether two accounts were opened from the same connection so that the invitation offer cannot be farmed with accounts nobody intends to use. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a service that is not abused. We use a one-way hash rather than the address itself because the hash answers the only question we need answered.
- To understand and improve the service: analytics and interaction recording. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner, and withdrawable at any time.
- To meet our legal obligations: keeping records of transactions for tax and accounting. Legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation.
We do not use your information to make any decision about you that has a legal or similarly significant effect, and we do not profile you for advertising.
7. Deleting your account
You may close your account at any time from your profile, or by writing to elene@nuastro.com. When you do, we delete the following, permanently and without keeping a copy:
- Your account, username, and email address.
- Your birth details and every chart calculated from them.
- Every reading written for you.
- Every person you saved to your register, and their details.
- The questions you wrote for readings, your notes in the margin, and your settings and preferences.
- Your subscription record, your invitation records, and any reading you paid for that had not yet been written.
We keep one anonymous line recording that an account was closed: the day it was opened, the day it closed, the tier it held, and how many things were erased. It holds no username, no email address and no birth details, and it cannot be traced back to you.
What happens to what you posted in public. Posts, replies and comments you left in the Forum and the Feed are anonymised rather than deleted: the text stays where it is, and your name is replaced with “a former member,” so that conversations other people took part in do not collapse into holes. Nothing anonymised in this way can be traced back to you, and we keep no key linking it to your former account. If you would rather your posts were deleted outright, say so when you write to us and we will delete them.
What we are required to keep. Records of payments, meaning the amount, date and plan, are retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires. These are held by Gumroad as merchant of record, and separately deleting your Gumroad customer record is a request you make to Gumroad. We will tell you how when you ask.
If you delete your account from your profile, it happens at once. If you write to us instead, deletion is completed within 30 days. Either way it is not reversible, so we will ask you to confirm.
8. How long we keep things
- Account, birth details, charts and readings: until you delete your account.
- Things you posted publicly: until you delete them, or until your account is closed, at which point Section 7 applies.
- Server logs: retained by our host on its own schedule, typically a matter of weeks.
- Analytics data: retained by the analytics providers on their own schedules.
- Payment records: as long as tax law requires.
- Unverified accounts: an account that is never confirmed is removed.
- Invitation records: who invited you, and the hashed address your account was opened from, are kept for as long as your account exists and are deleted with it under Section 7.
9. Your rights
Wherever you live, we will honour the following. If you are in the UK or the EEA, these are your rights under the GDPR, and we extend the same treatment to everyone.
- Access: a copy of the personal information we hold about you, in a readable file.
- Rectification: correction of anything inaccurate. Your birth details are corrected by writing to us, because changing them changes every chart and reading you own.
- Erasure: deletion, as set out in Section 7.
- Portability: your information in a machine-readable format, to take elsewhere.
- Restriction and objection: you can ask us to stop a particular use, including any use based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdrawing consent: you can change your cookie choice at any time, and analytics stops.
Write to elene@nuastro.com. We answer within 30 days. We may need to confirm you control the account’s email address before we act, which protects you from someone else making requests in your name. We do not charge for this.
Complaints. If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first, because we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, and you do not need our permission to do so.
10. Cookies
- Essential: signing you in, keeping you signed in, and protecting forms from misuse. These cannot be switched off, because without them you cannot log in.
- Preference: remembering your choices, such as light or dark.
- Invitation: if you follow another member’s invitation link, one cookie remembers who invited you for up to 30 days, so that they are credited if you decide to open an account later rather than at once. It holds a username and nothing else. Declining it costs you nothing; only the member who invited you loses the credit.
- Analytics: set only if you accept them, and used for the services in Section 5.
You can decline analytics cookies and use Nuastro fully. Your browser can also block or delete cookies, though blocking essential ones will prevent logging in.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are salted and hashed. Verification and password-reset links are stored only as hashes, so reading our database does not let anyone log in as you. Requests that change your account require a token that proves the request came from a page we served. We rate-limit the emails we send so that our address cannot be used to flood an inbox.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
12. Children
Nuastro is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to elene@nuastro.com and we will remove it.
13. Where your information goes
Nuastro is operated from Georgia, and the providers in Section 5 are located in the United States and the European Union. If you are in the UK or the EEA, your information is therefore transferred outside it. Those transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or on the provider’s certification under an approved framework, together with our own assessment that the provider is suitable. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply to a particular provider.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights or what we do with your information, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect, rather than relying on you to notice.
15. Contact
